UI too plain

What to expect in a chess game? Plain and nicely done user interface? But this one just too plain and nothing special. But it is free anyway, so what is in the full version again?
Responsive also slow, whenever choose a army or whatever to move, have to wait 0.5second only the path is visible. Slow game or iPhone 4 is too slow for this game?
